Today, Administrator Power met with members of the Bosnian American diaspora community to discuss the United States’ continued commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and efforts to engage diaspora communities in strengthening democracy, governance, and economic development throughout the country. Administrator Power was joined by Ajla Delkic, President of the Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and members of the USAID/BiH Mission including Mission Director Courtney Chubb and Economic Development Officer Boba Vukmanovic.
Administrator Power discussed her recent January 2022 trip to BiH and offered her perspective on U.S.-BiH relations. Administrator Power thanked the Bosnian American community for its extensive work in BiH, and underscored the importance of shared efforts to grow the country’s economy and support the dynamism of new generations of leaders across all sectors. The Administrator discussed U.S. efforts to encourage constructive dialogue among BiH’s government officials, reduce corruption, and promote reconciliation. Administrator Power and participants emphasized shared solidarity with the people of Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing invasion, and discussed the importance of efforts to address attempts to undermine BiH’s stability and the Dayton Peace Accords.
