USAID supports public financial management, fiscal transparency, and governance in Angola by strengthening key public institutions, such as the Ministry of Finance, Court of Accounts, and Parliament. This initiative enhances budget planning, preparation, and implementation while empowering local civil society organizations to advocate for transparency and encourage more participatory budgeting processes. USAID also collaborates with the Ministry of Health, providing mentoring, training, and oversight to foster sustainable health financing at central and municipal levels, thus improving budgeting, execution, and oversight of public health resources. These partnerships not only help Angolan authorities better assess resource needs and manage expenditures but also reduce dependency on international assistance, promoting national ownership over development. Additionally, USAID supports democracy, human rights, and governance through programs like CAPI, which focuses on peacebuilding and conflict resolution among youth, and initiatives for debt sustainability and anti-corruption. Regional programs such as ARISA and SAPP&D work across southern Africa to strengthen human rights and democratic institutions, with an emphasis on resource management and safeguarding marginalized groups.
