USAID has been providing support to Namibia since the country’s independence in 1990. Bilateral assistance focuses primarily on HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment. Namibia also benefits from regional programs in the fields of Democracy and Governance, as well as Energy and Economic Growth. In light of the deteriorating drought situation in the country, USAID is increasingly engaged in providing food security assistance.
