Mongolia
Country Overview
Since its peaceful democratic transition in 1991, Mongolia’s political system now reflects the aspirations of its citizens. Further diversification of its economy presents opportunities for notable economic gains. The United States has partnered with Mongolia for over three decades on areas of mutual interest, including promoting effective democratic governance, building the private sector, modernizing energy production, increasing food security, conserving biodiversity, providing much needed humanitarian assistance and livelihood support during natural calamities, and helping fight diseases, such as COVID-19.
With nearly 60 percent of the population under 30 years old, Mongolia’s rising leaders play a significant role in Mongolia’s future as a sovereign and self-reliant democracy. USAID partners to support Mongolia’s continued democratic development, facilitate sustainable, inclusive economic growth and solidify its path to greater independence on its development journey.
