Through PEPFAR, USAID supports community-based HIV prevention and mitigation across the HIV continuum of care. USAID focuses these efforts on orphans and vulnerable children, as well as key and priority populations, those most vulnerable to acquiring HIV and most likely to face stigma and discrimination.
The Continuum of Prevention, Care and Treatment (CoPCT) of HIV/AIDS with Most-at-Risk Populations in Cameroon (CHAMP)
Champ aims to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with HIV and sexually transmitted infections. CHAMP focuses on mitigating the impact of HIV on the socio-economic development of Cameroon by strengthening the technical capacity of the government and civil society to implement evidence-based prevention, care and treatment activities, and reduce stigma for key populations in Cameroon. USAID focuses primarily on community-based programming including outreach, prevention, testing and linkage to treatment for key populations (female sex workers, men who have sex with men, transgender and people who inject drugs), other priority populations (e.g. clients of female sex workers, long distance truck drivers, adolescent girls and young women living in hot spots, etc.), and children of female sex workers.

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC)
EpiC audits the CHAMP program. The audit specifically reviews the data quality of select indicators in recent reporting periods, determines weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the current handshake model process linking community clients to clinical facilities and vice versa, and proposes solutions for the reporting of data and the overall handshake model process.

Key Interventions to Develop Systems and Services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (KIDSS)
Addresses the challenges of sustainable care and support for orphans and vulnerable children by strengthening the capacity of the Cameroonian government, civil society, communities, and households to provide quality care to and support of HIV-infected and affected children. Assistance ranges from socio-economic, health, educational, and legal support to provision of psychosocial programs and referrals to clinical services, socio-economic, health, educational, legal, and psychosocial needs of children and families infected and affected by HIV.

Reaching Impact, Saturation, and Epidemic Control (RISE)
RISE works to promote stronger local partnerships capable of maintaining sustainable, self-reliant, and resilient health systems, and support the Department of Health Promotion of the Ministry of Public Health in advancing efforts to realize universal health coverage (UHC). The goal is to provide access to quality primary health care services to all Cameroonians through sliding-scale contributions to a national insurance system rather than the current fee-for-service approach. In collaboration with other donors such as the World Bank, World Health Organization, International Labor Organization, and bilateral partners, USAID is providing targeted technical assistance focused on UHC and User fee elimination communication, development of UHC operational documents and training of cadres at different levels on the scheme. <

Accelerating Support to Advanced Local Partners (ASAP)
ASAP coordinates the implementation of capacity development interventions to enable local organizations to manage USAID awards; comply with USAID regulations; and manage, implement, monitor, and deliver on PEPFAR programs.

Community Led Monitoring (CLM)
CLM monitors the implementation of the new user fees elimination policy in Cameroon to improve access to HIV/AIDS services that are offered free of charge at health facilities through a community participatory approach. Activities are carried out in at least 400 health facilities with priority given to PEPFAR supported health facilities.
