OVERVIEW
The USAID Economic Reform and Recovery Action (ERRA) aims to support transformative trade, investment reforms, economic recovery from the detrimental impacts of COVID-19 pandemic and to re-position Eastern Africa back onto a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth trajectory to drive job creation and prosperity, while advancing competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability.
USAID ERRA will facilitate trade along economic corridors, deepening regional integration, and support inclusivity through women in trade and decreasing the time and cost of trade, boosting exports, and creating jobs.
ANTICIPATED RESULTS
- Job Creation: Create jobs by supporting enhanced export competitiveness, particularly for women and youth, in select value chains such as livestock, fisheries, and logistics sectors.
- Trade Facilitation: Strengthen the capacity of national bodies to comply with international trade standards while improving the efficiency of logistics services to ease the movement of goods.
- Resilience: Strengthen economic opportunities for vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, through vocational training in market-driven skills to mitigate the impacts of economic shocks.
APPROACHES
- Local Partnerships: Working with local partners to empower and strengthen institutional capacities to engender local ownership and sustainability.
- Gender and Youth: Mainstream and design specific interventions targeting women and youth to support greater inclusivity.
- Environmental Sustainability: Promote greater climate change resilience and reduction of CO2 emissions by mainstreaming climate mitigation and adaptation measures in all our work streams while designing interventions.
