USAID's maternal and child survival programs are focused on 25 countries with the highest need, demonstrable commitment to achieving sustainable and efficient program outcomes, and the greatest potential to leverage U.S. government programs and platforms. Since 2000, remarkable progress on maternal and child survival has been made, with a 55% decrease in under-five child mortality and a 42% decline in maternal mortality across USAID’s 25 priority countries.
