FRONTIER HEALTH MARKETS GLOBAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WILL INCREASE PRIVATE SECTOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO FAMILY PLANNING AND OTHER HEALTH OUTCOMES

Awarded on September 27, 2021, Frontier Health Markets Global Technical Assistance (FHM Global TA) aims to accelerate improvements in family planning (FP) and other health outcomes, including maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), malaria, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis (TB), by strengthening the functioning of local health markets and facilitating strategic engagement with a range of private sector actors.

FHM Global TA will help to strategically advance health outcomes and improve access to—and equitable use of—quality health products, services, and information in voluntary family planning, as well as MNCH, malaria, TB, and HIV/AIDS programs by strengthening local health markets. The public sector health system faces many constraints and cannot meet the growing needs and current market demand for voluntary FP and other health products and services alone. While the private sector plays an unprecedented role in creating and shaping healthcare delivery, challenges remain in ensuring voluntary FP and other health markets are resilient, robust, and self-reliant.

FHM Global TA will apply systems-thinking to facilitate health market development and strengthen local partner ecosystems for the design and delivery of context-appropriate, sustainable health market solutions. It will leverage private sector infrastructure, harness expertise and innovation, and address market failures that create inefficiencies in order to contribute to sustainable supply and increased use of health services, products, and information in an equitable and efficient manner.

FHM will optimize the ability of local market partners to increase access to high-quality, consumer-driven family planning and other health products, services, and information. The project will be implemented by Chemonics and a consortium of three core and sixteen network partners.
