Municipal Tools USAID Guatemala

*Tools only available in Spanish*

To modernize and strengthen the technical and administrative capacities of municipalities, USAID's Nexos Locales project (2014-2023) developed and implemented a set of technological tools, as well as manuals and guides that simplify the internal functions of municipal offices and increase compliance with their legal framework. The adoption of technology in municipal planning processes and service delivery has been essential to create more efficient local governments and strengthen citizen participation.

These tools support the creation of solid and transparent municipal financial systems. In this tab you will find tools that assist in carrying out planning processes and financial strategies that are mainly aimed at Municipal Integrated Financial Administration Directorates and related municipal agencies.

These tools seek to strengthen citizen participation and the involvement of civil society in the management of local governments, mainly through the exercise of accountability and social audit mechanisms. In this tab you will find tools that support advocacy processes and analysis of projects and budgets, which are aimed at civil society groups, Community and Municipal Development Councils (COCODE and COMUDE), networks of women and youth, and leaders of Indigenous Peoples.

These tools support local governments in the provision, operation and maintenance of public services, particularly the water service; in addition to the promotion of Food and Nutrition Security (FNS). In this tab you will find guides and manuals on the provision of water services at the community and urban level, as well as technical documents on the approach to FSN at the municipal level.

These tools are related to local economic development and adaptation measures and climate resilience in municipal governments. In this tab you will find guides, strategies and manuals on both topics, including documents that contain the approach to economic development and adaptation to climate change from the intersectional perspective of irregular migration.
