Our Work

USAID is supporting India’s transition to affordable and sustainable energy to reduce emissions, spur economic growth, power education and health systems, and promote sustainable climate investments.  Our partnership is enhancing regional energy cooperation through cross-border power trade, sharing India’s successful approaches within the region and beyond.

Our Impact

Since 2016, USAID and India have mobilized over $3.5 billion in public and private clean energy investments, installed more than 14,500 megawatts of clean energy — enough to power over 9.4 million households — and improved energy access for five million people.  Our collaboration has also strengthened the renewable energy sector through a national energy-conservation code.
