More than 58 percent of Malagasy people lack access to safe drinking water and nearly half of all households live without sanitation facilities. USAID’s water and sanitation efforts are increasing access to clean water and we are incorporating water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities within across our health, food security and environment programs. USAID also improves access to credit for consumers and suppliers of water and sanitation services using microfinance and credit products.
