Germia Park, Pristina, Kosovo
ADMINISTRATOR SAMANTHA POWER: I just completed an amazing hike with remarkable young people who bring really diverse histories, really diverse perspectives, come from different communities here in Kosovo, but share a desire to see the common humanity in everybody. And these are young people who go out of their way. For example, if they live in Pristina to visit North Mitrovica, if they live in North Mitrovica to come down, and make sure that they're interacting with young people who have dreams and ambitions and who want good jobs, and to build and create wonderful things here in Kosovo.
And so, there's a lot of talk about politics, of course, and I'm here and will meet with the Kosovo Prime Minister and the Kosovo President and of course, will be immersed in talking about political agreements and implementation and all of that. But it's really important to bring it back to what matters most, which is creating a world for the next generation and the generation after that, that is more peaceful and more prosperous than the world that we live in now.
And it is these young people who give me hope. But also these young people who really want normalcy in their lives, you know, want basic freedoms, basic dignity, and who I really admire because they seek out hard truths, they recognize the perspective of others, and they don't want to allow history to hold them back and to prevent them from reaching their potential. So I'm really inspired by these discussions. I hope that politicians everywhere can take hard decisions with young people like this in mind. Thank you.
