Sound public procurement is critical for governing efficiently, improving services, and earning citizen trust. Half of government spending in Peru is procurement—the purchase of goods, services, and infrastructure for society’s benefit.
This project helps realize a shared commitment to preventing waste, fraud, and corruption in public expenditures. The project transfers international technical expertise to the Government of Peru (GOP) to help establish more transparent and competitive procurement processes.
The project coordinates direct government-to-government technical assistance drawing upon the U.S. Department of Commerce’s highly experienced attorneys, advisors, and network of U.S. and international experts. The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) leads this activity in coordination with USAID, State Department, and Government of Peru stakeholders.
