On 9 August 2023, Peter Trenchard, Mission Director for USAID/Senegal, was inducted as an Officer of the Order of the Lion by Senegalese President Macky Sall. The “Ordre de Lion'' is the highest order of civilian honor bestowed by the President’s Office and is awarded only sparingly. The Minister of Economy and Planning presented the award to Mission Director Peter Trenchard days before Peter’s retirement from USAID, in recognition of his service and commitment to the development of Senegal.
