USAID Southern Africa Mobilizing Investment
USAID Southern Africa Mobilizing Investment (USAID Mobilizing Investment) is a five-year project to promote inclusive economic growth and self-reliance in the Southern Africa region. USAID Mobilizing Investment will address the spectrum of funding gaps in Southern Africa’s investment ecosystem by working through and with local market system actors on four primary components:
Component 1 Mobilizing catalytic capital to underserved markets.
Component 2 Developing the capacity of fund managers who have traditionally had trouble accessing capital.
Component 3 Working with businesses, capital providers and auxiliary service providers to provide efficient transactional support services necessary for bankable investment opportunities.
Component 4 Facilitating connections between U.S. and international investors with Southern Africa fund managers and investment opportunities.
The duration of the program is 2023 – 2027. The following countries are earmarked for participation in the USAID Mobilizing Investment program: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Madagascar, Zambia, Eswatini, Malawi, and Lesotho.

Request for Concepts to mobilize investment in Southern Africa Reference: G-RFC 01 – USAID Southern Africa Mobilizing Investment - FY 2023
Interested parties are invited to submit concepts that present innovative ideas to catalyze and mobilize capital for investment by fund managers into various sectors to increase employment, decrease poverty, and reduce inequality within the Southern African region.
These ideas or activities will contribute to closing the gap in raising investment capital and help build an investment ecosystem that can identify and support a pipeline of viable investments.
Innovations with great potential for replication, scalability, or a direct impact on South Africa and the broader Southern African economies of Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zambia may be submitted.
