The Government of Tanzania has committed, both to its people and to the international community, to improving democratic governance, and President Samia Suluhu Hassan speaks regularly about the 4 Rs - Reconciliation, Resilience, Reform, and Rebuild - guiding Tanzania’s growth as a democracy. USAID programming in democracy, human rights, and governance supports these reform efforts by promoting civic and political space, protecting human rights and freedom of expression, and improving the capability of local organizations and individuals to advocate for the people of Tanzania.
