In Zanzibar, youth comprise a significant number of the population. 35.3% of the population is between the ages of 15 and 35. They face serious challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and little participation in governance and political processes. Zanzibar Fighting Against Youth Challenges Organization (ZAFAYCO) a youth-led civil society organization, established in 2013 is at the forefront of addressing challenges for youth in the isles.
