Illegal logging and wildlife trafficking across the Vietnam-Laos border has long been a threat to both countries’ biodiversity. USAID is partnering with the German government through the KfW Development Bank to strengthen cross-border cooperation to curb these threats through improving information sharing. This resulted in the development of a Memorandum of Understanding between Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam, and Sekong province, Laos.

By creating a roadmap for improved communication between Vietnam-Laos border provinces, USAID-KfW collaboration is contributing to the effort to reduce threats to biodiversity.
