The USAID Workforce for an Innovation and Start-up Ecosystem (WISE) project is working to support Vietnam’s National Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Strategy to advance continued economic transformation. On November 25, the project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s National Innovation Center and the Vietnam’s Youth Federation, conducted a workshop on “Youth Workforce for Digital skills and Digital Economy.”

The event, which attracted the participation of almost 120 representatives of employers, training institutions, youth organizations, and government agencies, aimed to enable young Vietnamese intellectuals from 16 countries to share their perspectives and ideas in developing the young workforce in support of the digital economy in Vietnam. The workshop highlighted the need for upskilling the young workforce by leveraging traditional and new methods of training and collaboration of all players in the workforce ecosystem. The USAID WISE approach of basic digital literacy and innovative financing mechanisms for digital skills acquisition was introduced and discussed as a platform to help Vietnam create “global citizens.”

Through events like this, USAID WISE engages the public and the private sectors to work together to upskill and reskill the workforce for innovation and advance the use and development of digital skills as it accelerates Vietnam’s adoption of the digital economy.
