On December 12 and 23, USAID organized two workshops to review and discuss water resources management issues in Vietnam, bringing National Assembly Deputies together with government officials, experts, and representatives from social organizations and communities. The country faces increased water pollution and scarcity due to inefficient, decentralized regulations, a lack of a legal framework for water security, and insufficient economic tools for water resources management. To address these challenges, Vietnam is revising its 2012 Law on Water Resources, integrating ministerial-level and provincial-level regulations into a unified legal framework. USAID, through its Local Works Collective Action for Water Conservation project, through multiple methodologies, researched and evaluated water resource management in Vietnam, culminating in a  water security legal framework.

USAID's support contributes to a more transparent and inclusive policy making process that will result in a comprehensive, integrated water resources management in Vietnam, providing access to clean water for the Vietnamese people.
