USAID’s Local Works project brings together local NGOs and experts to strengthen the capacity of local departments and agencies in Danang to achieve their goal of creating a safe and healthy environment for its people, investors, and domestic and foreign tourists. These efforts directly contribute to the city’s sustainable development goal to become a “Green City''— through improving its urban environment and using energy effectively by 2030. On March 18, USAID’s Local Works’ Collective Action for Water Conservation project trained nearly 50 officials from local departments and agencies in Danang on objective-focused management, planning for results, analytical methods/techniques for developing and implementing plans, and tools for monitoring and evaluating. As a result of this training, Danang city officials developed a detailed implementation plan for 2022-2023 to become a Green City.
By fostering engagement between local government and local experts/NGOs, USAID is supporting a more transparent policymaking process and better delivery of services to Vietnamese citizens.
