On May 22, USAID celebrated International Biological Diversity Day with the Management Board of Vu Quang National Park in Ha Tinh Province. USAID/Vietnam’s Deputy Mission Director Bradley Bessire attended to witness the release of wild animals, previously held in captivity, back into the wild as part of a research program initiated by the park. Since 2020, 700 animals have been released as part of this program.

At the event, Ha Tinh provincial officials reaffirmed their commitment to sustain more than 98% of the natural forest coverage in the province and protect endangered species. USAID partners with Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide both technical and financial support for 21 sites across Vietnam, including Vu Quang National Park, to develop an effective protected area system and restore Vietnam’s wildlife.
