Forest rangers in Vietnam work in challenging environments to protect biodiversity. Many sacrifice basic comforts, which can hurt morale. USAID improved living and working conditions for rangers in 21 of Vietnam’s protected areas. Upgrades to 162 ranger stations, from Cuc Phuong National Park in the North to Cat Tien in the South, have benefited over 1,200 rangers. These include solar power systems for reliable energy, cooling fans, and hot water systems.
These improvements boost morale, enhance the effectiveness of conservation efforts, and help to retain staff, reducing biodiversity loss in Vietnam’s protected areas. [Biodiversity Conservation Project]
