As of September 12, the typhoon and torrential rain in its aftermath have caused flooding, landslides, and infrastructure collapse that have killed 199 people with 800-plus injured and 128 missing, and damaged or destroyed some 48,000 homes and approximately 495,000 acres of agricultural land across 26 provinces. USAID’s disaster experts continue to monitor humanitarian needs with local emergency authorities and partners on the ground. Assessments happening now with USAID participation in typhoon-impacted provinces will inform relief and recovery assistance. The assistance will be allocated to humanitarian partners to help meet the needs of vulnerable storm-affected households, including the provision of multipurpose cash assistance, shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance, as well as non-food items.
