Vietnam is the 16th most biologically diverse country in the world; however, the country’s biodiversity has been on the decline due to multiple threats including hunting and habitat loss. The USAID Biodiversity Conservation Activity provided technical support to the Government of Vietnam to update its National Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan for 2021-2030.
The updated strategic action plan provides policy guidance and a roadmap for government agencies to conserve biodiversity, promote climate change adaptation, ensure the sustainable use of natural resources, and provide for the equitable sharing of benefits generated from ecotourism, the harvest of non-timber forest products, and payment for forest services, for the next decade in Vietnam.
