BACKGROUND
The USAID Program for Advancing Supply Chain Outcomes (PASCO) aims to create sustainable access to safe, effective, quality-assured, affordable life-saving health commodities for Zambians by strengthening the Government of the Republic of Zambia’s transportation and distribution systems.
PASCO is partnering with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, specifically the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) to efficiently and effectivelydeliver health commodities and life-saving medicines throughout Zambia. Importantly, PASCO is working to address transportation challenges in some of Zambia’s most hard to reach communities. To accomplish this, PASCO is working with locally owned private Zambian transportation companies to supplement distribution capacity in Zambia and ensure health commodities reach those that need them.
GOALS
GOAL ONE
Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of ZAMMSA's distribution and transportation systems to deliver commodities from the central medical stores to regional hubs and service delivery points in line with agreed schedules.
GOAL TWO
Transfer ownership of the project to GRZ through ZAMMSA at the end of the five-year project.
