How can your company help fight COVID-19 in Sri Lanka?

Depending on the specific intervention, private sector assistance could take the form of: 

  • Expertise and skill sets (e.g., supply chain, data analytics, marketing/communications, technology and innovation) 
  • Use of company assets (e.g., locations for vaccinations, equipment)  
  • Collaboration with and/or funding of local or international organizations undertaking COVID response programs 
  • Provision of funding or donated items to government entities

Country-Specific Needs

Increasing Vaccine Access & Delivery

Logistics, Warehousing, and Infrastructure 

  • Strengthen dry-ice and vaccine storage capabilities at the central and primary health care levels

Staffing, Training, and Administration

  • Support and strengthen the capacity of the local IT private sector to modernize the country’s health system in support of COVID-19 services (e.g., EMR, clinic systems, R&D)

Data and Monitoring

  • Support the Ministry of Health to improve the national health management updating system; provide institutional broadband and IT support to regional hospitals and clinics to improve their use of the existing system
  • Increase public use of existing COVID-19 websites by improving broadband access and providing data literacy skills for those accessing the site 
  • Provide support for a national ICT-based solution for providing proof of vaccination when accessing public spaces  

Incentives and Messaging

  • Design, generate, and/or distribute COVID-19 messaging and communications, especially through social media channels that combat vaccine hesitancy and misinformation
  • Provide online platforms that can deliver health messaging, IT literacy, and provision of health services during lockdown periods (e-commerce, e-medicine, online education, remote work, etc.)

Expanding Availability of Tests, Therapeutics, and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Supply Availability and Logistics

  • Review existing needs assessments and support meeting oxygen requirements, specifically related to transport and storage in regional hospitals
  • Provide support to rebuild small local pharmacies that serve communities with COVID-related supplies and commodities

Staffing, Training, and Administration

  • Assist the Ministry of Health with establishing COVID-specific hospitals and support refurbishments; provide supplies, consumables, and equipment; and train health personnel 
  • Support training of healthcare workers on emergency care management, COVID-19 case management, and home-based care 
  • Provide expertise, or funding to support research expertise, to conduct an island-wide study on the pandemic’s impact on the mental health of healthcare workers
