Administrator Power has appointed Mr. Joshua Kaufman as USAID’s first-ever USAID Scientific Integrity Official (SIO), responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation and iterative improvement of USAID's policies and processes relating to scientific integrity.
Mr. Kaufman brings a wealth of experience to this role, currently serves as the Senior Advisor in the Bureau for Planning, Learning, and Resource Management (PLR). Before the establishment of PLR, Mr. Kaufman served as the Director of the Office of Policy in the Bureau for Policy, Planning, and Learning (PPL), as Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of PPL, as Acting Director of the Office of Learning, Evaluation, and Research and as USAID's first Agency Evaluation Officer. In this work Mr. Kaufman has upheld research rigor and ethical inquiry principles, modeling this for the Agency and implementing partners across the 80 countries where USAID work.
Mr. Kaufman will work with USAID’s Scientific Integrity Committee to implement USAID’s forthcoming scientific integrity policy.
