PRISTINA, August 21, 2024 – The United States, through USAID, is providing an additional $34.5 million in assistance for the people of Kosovo. President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey M. Hovenier, and USAID/Kosovo Mission Director Mary Eileen Devitt presided over the signing of an agreement securing the funding at a ceremony in Pristina.
Speaking to members of the press following the ceremony, Ambassador Hovenier noted that this assistance underscores the enduring commitment of the U.S. Government and the American people to the people of Kosovo. He further emphasized the U.S. Government’s firm belief that development support for economic growth and effective governing institutions would aid Kosovo’s integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions, ensuring prosperity and security for all citizens.
Since 1999, USAID has committed more than $1 billion to spur economic growth and democratic development in Kosovo. New USAID support deepens this 25-year partnership with the people of Kosovo, demonstrating the commitment of the U.S. Government in a tangible way that benefits both countries.
