OVERVIEW

USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health partners with the Government of Nepal, key stakeholders, and youth to support adolescents in reaching their full potential by choosing and practicing healthy reproductive behaviors. The activity targets marginalized groups in Madhesh, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

HIGHLIGHT

USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health supports the GoN to expand the demand, supply, and use of quality, adolescent-responsive family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) services and products through a systems strengthening approach.

USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health Fosters health decisions and behaviors among Nepal’s adolescents:

USAID supports the provision of accurate, relevant FP/RH information and behavior change support to adolescents; and educates their parents, teachers, and communities, addressing current social norms for adoption of healthy reproductive health behaviors. Ensuring adolescents have increased understanding of their reproductive health, life skills to make healthy decisions, and are supported to adopt healthy behaviors.

Supports high quality adolescent-friendly services and products:

USAID supports improvements in the availability and accessibility of quality FP/RH services for adolescents by enhancing the capacity of local providers, community volunteers, and youth leaders to deliver the services. Ensuring adolescents have access to and utilize quality, adolescent-friendly services and products.

Ensures sustainability and local ownership of adolescent-friendly services:

USAID supports institutionalizing successful data-driven approaches and mechanisms addressing adolescent reproductive health through the public and private sectors by improving health system governance. As a result, municipal governments and private entities fund and independently manage and implement key successful approaches.
