Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Ambassador Michael Froman, Vice Chairman and President of Strategic Growth at Mastercard, to discuss how USAID and Mastercard can collaborate in support of Ukraine’s reconstruction and economic recovery, smallholder farmers suffering from high fertilizer prices and the food security crisis, financial inclusion in Central America, and improved health systems in sub-Saharan Africa.
Administrator Power thanked Ambassador Froman for Mastercard’s commitment to work together with USAID to support Ukraine’s long-term recovery from Russia’s brutal war. She also acknowledged Mastercard’s commitments to the Vice President’s Call to Action in Northern Central America, noting their shared priority to boost economic opportunities for vulnerable individuals and micro and small businesses. In addition, they discussed ongoing and potential collaborations between USAID and Mastercard to further financial inclusion and service delivery efforts in both Northern Central America and sub-Saharan Africa.
