Joshua Kaufman serves as the Senior Advisor in the Bureau for Planning, Learning and Resource Management (PLR) and as USAID’s first Scientific Integrity Official (SIO), responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation and iterative improvement of USAID's policies and processes relating to scientific integrity. Before the establishment of PLR, Mr. Kaufman served as the Director of the Office of Policy in the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning, as Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning, as the Acting Director of the Office of Learning, Evaluation and Research and as USAID's first Agency Evaluation Officer. Prior to joining the Bureau, Mr. Kaufman served as the Director of Evaluation and Impact Assessment in the U.S. Global Development Lab, Deputy Director of the Office of Innovation and Development Alliances and worked for many years in the USAID Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance. Mr. Kaufman has served at USAID since 1996. He has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Peace and Conflict Studies from Brandeis University.
