Kathryn Davis Stevens joined the Bureau for Asia in May, 2024 as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Afghanistan and Pakistan and Strategic Planning and Operations (SPO). Prior to rejoining the Asia Bureau, Kathryn served as Acting Chief Human Capital Officer and Senior DAA (SDAA) in the Office of Human Capital and Talent Management.
Ms. Stevens is a Senior Foreign Service Officer with over 25 years of experience in senior leadership, program officer, and democracy and governance officer roles in eight countries to date, as well as in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Stevens served as Mission Director to Bangladesh from 2021 to 2023, leading a staff of 180 in providing development assistance to the people of Bangladesh, as well as humanitarian assistance to the million Rohingya sheltered in Bangladesh since 2017. Kathryn previously served as Deputy Mission Director in Russia, India, and Afghanistan. She has also served in Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) and Acting DAA roles in the Bureau for Policy, Planning, and Learning; and the Bureau of Legislative and Public Affairs.
Ms. Stevens holds an M.A. in Russian Studies from Georgetown University and an A.B. in History from Duke University. She is from Fort Worth, Texas, and now calls Virginia home.
