Laura Pavlovic is Senior Deputy Assistant to the Administrator of the Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization (CPS) at USAID. Prior to this assignment she served as Senior Deputy Assistant to the Administrator in the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG), Deputy Director of the DRG Center, Director of the General Development Office in the Regional Development Mission for Asia, Director of the Office for Democratic and Economic Growth in USAID/Serbia, Division Chief of the Cross-Sectoral Programs Division in the DRG Center, and in multiple roles in the Office of Democratic Governance at USAID/Ukraine. Ms. Pavlovic began her USAID career in 2005 in USAID's East Africa regional mission, where she managed USAID's post conflict transition assistance program in Burundi.
Prior to joining USAID, Ms. Pavlovic worked as a program advisor for the Kenya Human Rights Commission, and as a corporate attorney in New York and Washington, where she also worked extensively on human rights and political asylum issues. Ms. Pavlovic speaks Serbian, Russian and French. She has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Pennsylvania. She served as Editor in Chief of the Harvard Human Rights Journal, and has published on media development and transitional justice challenges in the Balkans.
