Rob Berschinski serves at USAID as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Administrator. He previously served in the Biden Administration as Special Assistant to the President and White House National Security Council Senior Director for Democracy and Human Rights. In that role, Berschinski coordinated federal government policy and acted as principal advisor to President Joseph R. Biden and other senior U.S. Government officials on matters related to human rights, democracy, fighting corruption, and countering foreign disinformation and malign influence.
Berschinski has previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor; Deputy Director of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations’ Washington, D.C. office; Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense; and National Security Council Director for Security and Human Rights Policy. Immediately prior to joining the Biden Administration Berschinski was Senior Vice President for Policy at the international human rights advocacy organization Human Rights First.
He began his career in public service as an active duty intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from Yale University.
