With over two decades of dedicated service to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Sharon Sadler-Gray is currently serving as the acting Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA).
LPA is responsible for managing and coordinating the Agency's external affairs. LPA serves as USAID’s central point of contact with Congress, the media, interested stakeholders from the international development community, and the American people regarding the Agency’s international development programs and policies.
She previously served as acting Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator within the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) overseeing the Offices of Cuban Affairs and South America, she has been instrumental in advancing U.S. foreign policy objectives and providing counsel to Agency leadership on complex political issues related to democracy promotion and human rights. She also played a pivotal leadership role on the Northern Triangle Task Force to address the root causes of migration, showcasing her ability to navigate multifaceted challenges and contribute to the task force's overall success.
Sharon’s extensive career at USAID also includes serving as the Director of the Office of Caribbean Affairs, where she provided strategic leadership and oversight of local missions - including high profile programs in Haiti and the Dominican Republic - fostering effective relationships with U.S. agencies, donor communities, and foreign embassies. As the Acting Mission Director for USAID/Jamaica, she led $100 million programs on health and disaster mitigation, strengthening relationships with the U.S. Embassy and improving staff morale.
In addition to the LAC bureau, Sharon has held substantive positions in BHA, PPL, M, E&E and Asia bureaus. Prior to USAID, she worked at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and D.C. government.
