The Madre de Dios Sustainable Landscape Initiative (MDSL) is focused on developing feasibility studies to generate evidence of viable economic opportunities that protect biodiversity in the Madre de Dios region of Peru.
The initiative spans over 252,047 acres of high-value biodiversity ecosystems and aims to attract investments from the private sector to support sustainable activities within the Lower Madre de Dios Conservation Corridor. Through these feasibility studies, the MDSL aims to provide the evidence needed to support sustainable business models that benefit both local communities and the environment.
HOW DOES THE ACTIVITY WORK?
The Madre de Dios Sustainable Landscape Initiative (MDSL) operates by developing feasibility studies aimed at generating evidence of viable economic opportunities that protect biodiversity in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. These feasibility studies will assess the potential for sustainable business practices, such as ecotourism and superfruit value chains, to coexist with conservation efforts. By demonstrating that economic development can align with environmental protection, the MDSL seeks to attract formal investments and drive positive change in the region.
