Powering the Potential of Women in Energy is important to the work we do. Mediatrice Hagenimana is an electrical engineer whose USAID-funded apprenticeship at the Rwanda Energy Group resulted in employment. She is one of 184 female apprentices and interns that participated in Power Africa’s Women in Rwandan Energy (WIRE) initiative, of which 111 gained employment in the energy sector.
Primary TextI have gained more skills through the WIRE program. It is important for women to participate in the energy sector because gender balance is important.

In addition to nearly 3,800 MW of Power Africa-supported renewable energy added to the grid since 2013, Power Africa also works directly with transmission and distribution utilities to reduce energy losses.
