Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Summary
System Name: De-Militarized Zone Network (DMZ)
Managing Office: Operations
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) gives notice that it has conducted a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) on the DMZ System. The DMZ system includes hardware, software, applications, data, communications, and personnel. The Demilitarized Zone General Support System (DMZ) is a network system that provides public facing web services and is used to monitor transactions between the untrusted Internet communications and the USAID trusted networks and services. The DMZ provides Internet services and monitoring services between untrusted Internet communications and USAID trusted network and services. This allows the DMZ's hosts to provide services to the external network while protecting the internal network in the event a host is compromised in the DMZ. The DMZ is a deterrent for intruders on the external network attempting to connect to the internal network.
