People with advanced HIV disease are at very high risk of opportunistic infections and deaths. There is a  pressing need in Vietnam to enhance health care workers' capacity  to handle complex HIV cases. In July, USAID supported the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control with a two-day training on advanced HIV disease management for 40 doctors and nurses from all 10 public HIV treatment facilities and five private HIV clinics in the city.

Trainings like this will improve local partner capacity to prevent and manage HIV-related diseases among people living with HIV, improve quality care for clients at both public and private sector facilities, and advance epidemic control and sustainability.
