The effective management of TB drugs is crucial to ensure that these life-saving medications get to the patients who need them. In August, USAID and the NTP co-organized six virtual training sessions for provincial TB programs (PTPs) focused on drug receipt, dispensing, reallocation, and reporting in line with the Government of Vietnam’s newly issued NTP instructions and protocols for the management of TB drugs dispersed through the national health insurance plan, called Social Health Insurance. The 200 participants, representing 63 PTPs, learned about solutions to drug reallocation and additional purchases if demand exceeds the contracted quantity. USAID will continue to partner with the NTP to offer technical support to ensure smooth implementation of new government guidelines.
This work improves treatment outcomes, supports the efficient use of resources, and enhances the overall effectiveness of TB response efforts. [Local Health System Sustainability Project]
