As Vietnam further opens to international investment and trade, it faces significant challenges managing the increasing complexity and volume of commercial and investment disputes through ADR. Despite progress, there is a pressing need to improve the quality and effectiveness of ADR mechanisms to support a favorable business environment and support economic growth. USAID collaborated with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), the country's leading arbitration center to enhance ADR capacity, to align it with international best practices. Initiatives include raising awareness about ADR's efficiency among local businesses, streamlining dispute management through a newly developed virtual case management platform, and conducting train-the-trainer bootcamps for ADR practitioners and judicial members.
This work is expected to strengthen the rule of law in Vietnam by reducing court backlogs and improving judicial access. An efficient ADR system will also improve the investment climate, making Vietnam a more attractive destination for foreign direct investment. [USAID INVEST]
