The decline of wildlife populations in Vietnam stems largely from the illegal consumption of wildlife meat and use of wildlife products. USAID’s long-standing support to Vietnam helps to tackle the illegal wildlife trade and conserve Vietnam’s national parks and protected areas. In March, USAID launched a campaign to reduce the illegal consumption of these products. This launch coincided with a series of events, attracting more than 2,000 participants including government officials, students, and the public.
The campaign strengthens political and public support for stronger action for wildlife conservation and an end to eating wildlife. This also aligns closely with USAID’s efforts to promote One Health as an integral approach to improving the health of ecosystems, people, and animals.
