On November 7, at the annual Vietnam One Health Partnership High Level Forum for Zoonotic Diseases in Hanoi, USAID Vietnam's Mission Director Aler Grubbs spoke about the U.S. government’s long support of Vietnam in strengthening its capacity to detect, prevent, and respond to emerging infectious diseases through the One Health approach. This partnership has increased global health security preparedness and response by training of more than 60,000 One Health-trained professionals, creating an international Master of Public Health degree program with focus on One Health at Hanoi Medical University, and the development and implementation of information management and surveillance systems to improve disease reporting and response.
The Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development attended and expressed their appreciation of this support. USAID is continuing to support Vietnam with a suite of new activities to strengthen the country's core public health capacities, as announced by President Biden during his September visit to Hanoi.
