Early detection and treatment of TB is essential in controlling the epidemic, making accurate testing a critical need. Since 2022, USAID has partnered with Vietnam’s National Reference Laboratory to update the country’s 2018 standard operating procedures (SOP) for TB diagnostics to incorporate new techniques, the latest technical advice from test manufacturers, and to align with World Health Organization guidelines. The updated SOP includes 21 procedures— 6 of which are new, to improve diagnosis accuracy, standardize treatments to align with WHO guidelines, and streamline the process for health insurance claims.

The updated SOP will be distributed to district-level laboratories across 63 provinces, improving TB diagnosis across the country. [Support to End Tuberculosis]
