In September, the Industry University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) announced that six technology and engineering programs had earned the internationally-recognized Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accreditation. With USAID assistance, IUH became the fifth Vietnamese university to achieve ABET accreditation and now has the highest number of ABET-accredited programs in the country. USAID has helped three of the five universities to achieve ABET accreditation. With USAID support, IUH was able to ensure that programs meet international standards, and conduct practice visits to prepare for the actual ABET evaluation visit.
ABET accreditation sets the international benchmark for quality higher education and raises the faculty and curriculum standards of Vietnamese STEM programs to produce graduates who will help Vietnam lead the way in innovative and emerging technologies.
