Ho Chi Minh City is experiencing an increase in diseases like Mpox; measles; hand, foot, and mouth disease; pertussis; and dengue fever. With USAID's support, the World Health Organization conducted training courses on clinical management and infection prevention from September 23 to 26 and October 7 to 10 for doctors from district health centers and hospitals. The courses also served to evaluate the impact of previous work in this area on health care workers’ capacity in early diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of respiratory diseases. The sessions were led by doctors from national and provincial hospitals, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, who have experience in managing outbreaks of COVID-19, measles, and Mpox.
Improving district health workers' ability to control disease transmission and respond to outbreaks increases the capacity and resilience of Ho Chi Minh City’s health care system.
