On September 5, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health approved the National TB Program’s (NTP) new guidelines for active and intensified TB case finding and respiratory diseases in community and health care settings. Since 2020, USAID has supported the development of these guidelines and strengthened TB detection in 11 priority provinces through the Double X Strategy, which combines chest X-rays and GeneXpert, a rapid bacterial testing technology, to detect more TB cases—and to detect them earlier in their onset.
These guidelines will improve provincial capacity to detect TB, support advocacy for local funding, and ensure sustainable TB prevention and control efforts in Vietnam. [Support to End Tuberculosis]
