What We Do

USAID’s HIV/AIDS Research program provides leadership by:

  • Developing the HIV/AIDS research agenda and cultivating strategic partnerships to implement HIV/AIDS research and technology development programs.

  • Disseminating research findings and supporting programmatic and policy applications, including responding to research inquiries.

  • Supporting sustainable capacity building and using local capacity for HIV/AIDS research.

MICROBICIDES

 

USAID supports the research and development of HIV prevention products for women that in addition to being safe and effective, will be acceptable, affordable, scalable, and deliverable in settings where they are needed most.

USAID recognizes that a vaccine is the ultimate tool to control the HIV epidemic and has supported research and development for a safe and globally effective HIV vaccine for more than two decades.
