We address the most important needs of communities identified through an inclusive community planning process, providing gender-inclusive business opportunities. We provide them with inputs and training to start egg production, which stimulates rural entrepreneurship.
For women, business is helping to generate decent and productive work, achieve gender equality, reduce poverty and ensure stronger economies and communities. For the egg producers, the farm has helped financially and with self-esteem, since they are part of a new business network in their community.
Each farm is a small business, and the women have jointly organized their marketing and purchase of inputs, achieving better prices. Business networks are also encouraged to save together on a regular basis. Egg business networks will be around for a long time as women continue to be productive, save, renew and grow their chicken populations, providing communities with stronger economies and the means to lead their own development efforts.
